PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- A Pennsylvania Representative announced plans to introduce legislation that would implement year-round daylight saving time.

"As days are getting shorter, one thing is inevitable: the end of daylight saving time is approaching," Rep. Joe McAndrew wrote in his newest memo. "This results in the sun setting earlier each day, more electrical use in our homes, and a lack of productivity in our workforce."

McAndrew went on to argue that Pennsylvanians also face "preventable safety risks" and deal with "avoidable schedule disruptions" when clocks are changed. For example, research shows that fatal vehicle crashes rise in the week after the shift, due to sleep loss and disruption to one's circadian rhythm, according to the legislation.
