ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A “violent, repeat offender” has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a man and leading police on a high-speed chase with his 5-year-old daughter in the backseat, according to the Coweta County district attorney.

The district attorney said Dequindre Jerome Langston, 40, shot a man in LaGrange on Dec. 17, 2024. He then led Coweta County deputies on a high-speed chase on I-85. According to the district attorney, Langston’s car topped out at speeds over 100 mph.

Deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the car. After the car crashed, Langston’s child crawled out of the wreckage. The child told deputies, “Daddy going too fast,” according to the district attorney. The child only suffered minor injuries, the district attorney said.
