ROSELAND, La. —
Five days after an explosion at a Roseland plant, the fire at the site is 98% contained.
A news release providing an update on the response to the explosion was sent by Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller's office Wednesday morning. Advertisement
According to Miller, only small hot spots remain at the site.
The evacuation order was lifted Tuesday.
Miller said the Environmental Protection Agency remains the lead in the investigation into the explosion and fire, as well as the residual oil that was seen on properties across the parish.
According to Miller, air monitoring is still underway and the air is considered to be within acceptable levels.
Crews are also continuing to put up containment booms in the Tangipahoa Parish river to collect oil from the water.
