ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people were killed in a shooting at a Roanoke Rapids convenience store, Police Chief Lawrence Wiggins said.

It happened about 1 p.m. Wednesday at the New Dixie Mart gas station, formerly known as Presto, at 142 Julian R. Alsbrook.

Officers arrived and found a man dead outside the store. He was identified as Dasean L. Banks of Roanoke Rapids.

A second man, Anthony Shearin, of Roanoke Rapids, was found inside the store suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to ECU North Hospital and transferred to Greenville for further treatment, but later died from his injuries.
