LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - Lake City police officers say a man is facing several charges for firing several shots at homeless people.

Investigators say Andrew Vanhyfte, 24, approached two homeless people outside the Vista Lab building on Southwest Baya Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

He fired several shots into the ground. Officers did not say why he fired the gun.

Upon arrival, officers blocked Vanhyfte from leaving the scene, and he was arrested and taken to the Columbia County Jail.

Vanhyfte faces charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm in public.
