MONTGOMERY – Huntsville High School volleyball coach Melanie Donahoo has checked a lot of boxes over the last year.

For starters, she served as president of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association in 2024-25. She was elected and inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2025. And last Thursday, she began her 23rd season as head coach with her Crimson Panthers downing city rival Grissom in a regular-season match to open the season with Donahoo’s 1,000th career coaching win. Her team then competed in the Juanita Boddie Volleyball Classic at Hoover’s Finley Center going undefeated in pool play to give her 1,005 wins by the week’s end.
