LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – A Laurel County man faces drug and poaching charges after law enforcement searched his garage.

DEA agents in Laurel County contacted Kentucky Fish and Wildlife regarding the discovery of potential deer poaching while investigating an unrelated case.

A search warrant was obtained for a garage. Wardens and law enforcement located 24 suspected illegally taken whitetail deer (heads and skulls), four turkey beards, two sets of turkey feet, two bobcats, and a red-tailed hawk head with talons.

A K9 search of the two-story, dirt-floor garage uncovered 5.7 lbs. of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 6,557 of suspected oxycodone pills in PVC containers buried in the ground.

The K9 was also alerted to suspected drug paraphernalia upstairs in the garage, indicating marijuana
