Birmingham city officials said minor issues with voting machines were corrected and had no impact on the voting process as residents selected their mayor, council and school board members Tuesday.

Just over 32,800 Birmingham residents cast their votes from 134 voting machines in 67 precincts.

In the end, Mayor Randall Woodfin fended off challenges from eight opponents and handily won re-election to a third term.

“A few minor issues have been reported, but each was handled promptly by Jefferson County voting technicians and without any interruption to voting,” said City Clerk Lee Frazier.
