When you think of the most disastrous free agent signings of the past decade, you’ll be hard-pressed to find many worse than Le’Veon Bell and the New York Jets in 2019.
Le’Veon Bell curiously sat out the entire 2018 campaign because of a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, believing he could top the five-year, $70 million offer they submitted in the offseason.
But we all know how the rest played out. Bell signed a four-year deal with the Jets worth $52.5 million. He didn’t even last two years on the lousy AFC East club, with the Jets releasing him early in the 2020 campaign after clashing with then-head coach Adam Gase.
