HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) -- The Houston County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man on 7 counts of disseminating/possessing child pornography.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation in April 2025 to find an offender who was sharing child pornography on multiple social media sites.

For the past four months, the HCSO team of ICAC investigators has been going through electronic material.

Houston County investigators carried out a search warrant on Pitts Drive in the Bay Springs Community on August 26, 2025.

Several technological devices were found through the search.

After being taken into custody, Billy Mooney, 65, was charged with seven (7) charges of disseminating and possessing child pornography. He was booked into the Houston County Jail on a $210,000 bail.
