PORTLAND, Ore. — Several campsites, hiking trails and forest roads have been closed Wednesday due to the Emigrant Fire southeast of Eugene ahead of Labor Day weekend. The Willamette National Forest said the closures are for the public and firefighter's safety.

The fire is located in a remote area three miles southwest of Indigo Springs Campground and is approximately 7,400 acres in size and is 0% contained. The fire was first reported on Sunday and was caused by lightening.

All areas, roads, trails, campgrounds and recreation sites in the closure area, as well as sites in the Timpanogas Lake area, are closed.
