CLINTONVILLE, Wis. (WBAY) - The minor that a Madison priest was accused of trying to meet for sex was actually an undercover police sergeant, according to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

Andrew Showers is charged with Attempt Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, Attempt Child Enticement, and Attempt 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under 16 Years of Age.

According to the criminal complaint, a police sergeant at the Clintonville Police Department, identified as Sgt. Bartel, was performing online undercover investigations on August 10, posing as a 14-year-old girl called “Abby.”
