HAMMOND — A Markham, Illinois man was sentenced Wednesday to 84 months in prison for distributing fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Robert Holder, 33, received the sentence from United States District Court Judge Gretchen Lund after pleading guilty to knowingly and intentionally distributing a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl. Following his prison term, Holder will face three years of supervised release.

Court documents revealed that in March 2024, Holder sold fentanyl to law enforcement officers on five separate occasions. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joel Mathur.
