MULLINS, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Mullins police officer suspended last week for selling a department-issued cellphone was reprimanded months earlier for misusing his marked cruiser, records obtained Wednesday by News13 show.

Chrisgen Shemar Gause, 24, was arrested last week on an embezzlement charge after allegedly selling an Apple iPhone for $140 at a kiosk, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said.

Police Chief P.M. Mostowski said Gause had been placed on administrative leave without pay.

State Criminal Justice Academy disciplinary reports show that in February, Gause used a Mullins Police Department cruiser during his personal time, traveling to Florence County around 2 a.m. on Feb. 22 after being warned twice before.
