MINNEAPOLIS — What unfolded inside the Annunciation Catholic Church Wednesday morning is something many will never forget.
Count 10-year-old Weston Halsne among them.
Weston was among dozens of students attending a special start-of-school mass around 8:30 a.m. when he heard a noise - then another one - then realized bullets were flying through the stained glass windows from outside the building.
"I was like two seats away from the stained glass windows, so the shots were right next to me," the fifth-grader shared with KARE 11's Lou Raguse. "The first one, I was like, 'What is that?' I thought it was just something, then I heard it again, I just ran under the pew and covered my head."
Halsne came out unscathed, but said a classmate who came to his aid did not.
