A fire at a home in Hamilton’s Stinson neighbourhood left behind more than $750,000 in damage.

Hamilton Fire Department assistant deputy chief Steve Welton told The Spectator that crews were called to reports of a structure at 108 Erie Ave. S. just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Welton said crews arrived at the home to find an outdoor deck on fire, with the flames having already started to spread into the roof as well as parts of the house.

Firefighters were able to confirm that all occupants of the home had evacuated the building and began putting out the blaze.

Welton noted that it was later reported that one occupant had been taken to the hospital, but was later released. The extent of their injuries was not reported to the fire department.
