GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island police are on the scene of a barricade situation near 6th and Adams Streets. Officers have blocked off streets in the area as they work to resolve the situation.

The incident is happening a couple blocks away from Jefferson Elementary. The school briefly went into their safety protocol known as ‘SECURE MODE’ and dismissed about 10 minutes later than planned.

Police are asking people to avoid the area.
