A mayoral race in a city about 40 miles south of Huntsville ended Tuesday with one vote separating the mayor and the challenger.
Now, Guntersville residents would not know who their mayor for the next four years would be until the independent Board of Registrars examines seven provisional ballots on Tuesday, City Clerk Betty Jones told AL.com.
“So those will be examined to determine whether or not they are valid votes,” Jones said. “And then we’ll get a new total next Tuesday.”
Last night, incumbent Leigh Dollar, who has been in office since 2012, received 1,062 votes, one more than challenger Jeff McLaughlin, an attorney.
