EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The man accused of stabbing a former chiropractor to death more than seven years ago has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Providence Superior Court Judge Maureen Keough announced the verdict on Aug. 21 following a week-long bench trial that took place last September.
Owen Morris, now 29, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder back in January 2018 in connection with the death of 67-year-old Dr. Clive Bridgham.
Court documents revealed that Morris barged into Bridgham's East Providence home and stabbed him more than 30 times with a diving knife. Bridgham, who lived alone, was found the next day on the floor in a pool of blood by officers conducting a well-being check.
