Edmonton police are investigating after a man riding a skateboard in south Edmonton was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 1:50 p.m. a 38-year-old man riding a skateboard eastbound on the south sidewalk of 23 Avenue was crossing in at a marked crosswalk at 91 Street when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue, police said in a Wednesday news release.
The Nissan Rogue operated by a 64-year-old man was travelling westbound on 23 Avenue and was attempting to turn south on 91 Street.
The skateboarder was treated and transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver of the Nissan Rogue wasn’t injured, and he remained on scene after the collision.
Police say neither speed or alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
