WHITE COUNTY, Ill. (WEHT) - The multi-million dollar project to replace a bridge on Interstate 64 over the Wabash River remains on schedule as work has passed the one year mark. "We've had good, dry weather and with river conditions it's been pretty much ideal," explains Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Construction Engineer Ben Wills, "so the project's on schedule. They'll be moving forward for the next couple years and hopefully open to traffic by Fall of 2028."

Wills says the original westbound bridge has mostly been demolished and crews are focusing on the foundation for the new structure. "There's 16 piers to build," says Wills. "So, when the piers come up and get out of the water, then you'll start to see the structural still be erected and the deck poured."
