LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Archdiocese of Louisville has asked for prayers after a deadly mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school Wednesday morning.
"We are heartbroken by the deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church," Archbishop of Louisville Rev. Shelton Fabre said in a statement.
The 23-year-old gunman opened fire from outside the school's church as students were gathered for mass, according to Minneapolis police.
Two children were fatally shot, while another 17 people were injured. Fourteen of those injured were also children.
"I am saddened by this senseless act of violence," Fabre added. "I invite the faithful of the Archdiocese of Louisville to join me in praying for the repose of the souls of those killed, the victims who were injured, and the Annunciation community.
