EXCLUSIVE: Argentina’s Compañía de Cine has acquired worldwide sales rights to Mexican filmmaker Karla Badillo’s Oca ahead of the world premiere in TIFF’s Discovery section.

The Mexican-Argentinian co-production from Pina Films, Las Jaras, Pucará Cine, and Año Cero Oca centres on Rafaela, a dedicated young nun from a dwindling congregation who embarks on a pilgrimage to a distant town where a new archbishop has been appointed.

Along the way, Rafaela encounters travellers, a paratrooper, and members of the privileged class. Their trials and perspectives mirror her own search for faith, meaning, and survival in a world shaped by spiritual devotion and material realities.
