DALLAS — Dallas' inspector general will be discharged from his job after less than three months because he's not an attorney , as is required by the city charter following a voter-approved charter amendment passed in November.
The Dallas City Council Wednesday approved a resolution discharging Timothy Menke as Dallas' inspector general, effective at the close of business Sept. 26. The inspector general is tasked with investigating fraud and corruption and ensuring the city complies with ethics rules.
"Mr. Menke has impressive credentials as a senior executive and has served in multiple inspector general offices, but he does not meet the qualification for the inspector general position in the city charter," a city filing on the resolution read.
