PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has officially broken ground on a new water plant in Arizona, aimed at conserving the precious resource as the chipmaker continues building its semiconductor facilities in north Phoenix.
TSMC officials announced Wednesday that its 15-acre Industrial Reclamation Water Plant, located at its campus near 43rd Avenue and Dove Valley Road, is designed to reuse “nearly every drop of water.” At first, the plant is expected to reach an 85% recycling rate with goals to improve that number to 90% or even better.
According to the company, once it hits that 90% recycling target, the amount being recycled from the first fab will be equivalent to 12,000 single-family homes.
