CINCINNATI (WXIX) - After the Fraternal Order of Police’s no-confidence vote against Mayor Aftab Pureval on Monday, city officials are defending leadership in the wake of the violent brawl that occurred in late July.

Cincinnati Vice-Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney said the mayor acted appropriately in communicating his concerns following the downtown brawl last month.

“I don’t think he did anything wrong. I mean, he made a statement. He was on top of what was going on,” Kearney said.

Pureval released a statement earlier this week saying he was disappointed by the FOP vote and that his administration has had the backs of law enforcement since he’s been in office.
