ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — Southbound US-131 near Dorr has been quiet since late Tuesday evening, and it will remain that way until these beams are replaced.

"We have to remove the damaged beams," said Richard. "Remove the deck above those beams, remove the concrete barrier wall, and then, of course, replace those beams."

According to John Richard, a semi-truck was carrying a concrete mixer Tuesday afternoon on a flatbed when it struck those beams.

"Even our engineers are saying it's the worst," said Richard. "Because usually you knock out a beam on a bridge, hit one beam. This took out three beams."

Richard also says that the driver scraped two other bridges in Kent County on M-6 eastbound before eventually crashing in Allegan County.
