CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Philipsburg continues to be at the center of controversy following the suicide of a Chinese immigrant.
Hundreds of protestors gathered Sunday at the ICE facility to demand its closure, urging Clearfield County Commissioners to end their contract with ICE.
Congressman Glenn Thompson (R), 15th District, defended the private company operating the facility, GEO Group.
"Geo is a great organization. You know, I have visited that facility in the past, have been a number of years ago. You know, but they were accommodating probably over 100 different languages. They were providing, you know, helping meet people's religious, intellectual health needs, all while folks were being staged, to prepare for deportation," Thompson said
