TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - Governor Ron DeSantis and Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia are tightening oversight of local governments, saying the goal is to cut waste and make better use of tax dollars.
The state has subpoenaed financial documents from Orange County, one of several local governments under audit. Ingoglia has been vocal in recent weeks, criticizing some leaders for not fully cooperating with the reviews.
“When it comes to waste, fraud and abuse, it is my opinion, and I think I have the data to back it up, that local governments seem to be by far the waste offenders when it comes to spending,” Ingoglia said.
The Department of Financial Services said reports from the audits are expected in the coming months.
DeSantis added that the broader
