NEW ORLEANS —

Charity Hospital in New Orleans remains vacant 20 years after Hurricane Katrina, leaving behind memories and a legacy for those who worked there.

"You know, there's some days that it seems like it was just the other day that we were in Charity Hospital, in my office on the 13th floor," said DeBlieux. "And then it seems like it was maybe three lifetimes ago."

DeBlieux vividly recalls the conditions after the storm.

"It smelled a lot like a bayou, right? Stagnant water," said DeBlieux.

He described the challenges of inadequate plumbing and no generator power.
