BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man accused of inappropriately touching a teen girl while working as a counselor at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Wasco has pleaded no contest to a felony charge of sexual battery, court records show.
Jose Solis, 39, pleaded no contest Tuesday, records show. Five other felony counts were dismissed.
He faces two years in prison and sex offender registration at his sentencing on Nov. 6, prosecutors said.
The teen told sheriff’s investigators Solis called her to his office in May 2022 and touched her inappropriately, saying she owed him for returning her cellphone after she was caught using the device in class, according to court filings.
Solis had her return the next few days, the teen said, and also touched her on those occasions.
