ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - An incident in Aberdeen occurred on Wednesday, with officers present at both Roncalli Primary School and Lincoln Elementary.

The incident is not related to the shooting that occurred in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

Officers were present at both schools after two separate incidents involving a weapon.

According to a press release , at around noon, Aberdeen police officers were sent to an area near 3rd Avenue and North Kline Street in response to a reported weapons offense.

The weapon turned out to be an airsoft AR-style rifle that shot pellets.

Resource officers then coordinated with the nearby Roncalli Primary Catholic School to implement safety measures.
