KERMIT, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The school year will be starting one day late for Kermit PK8.

Parents were frustrated to learn Tuesday evening that the school would not open Wednesday as expected.

Katelyn Brewer, who has three kids who go to the school, said parents got automated phone calls from the school district around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying the start of their school year was being delayed as they awaited an engineers’ report on a slip behind the school.

“It was very frustrating, not only for us but for our kids,” Brewer said. “They had their lunches packed, their bookbags ready, and their clothes laid out. They were ready to go back.”
