LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Texas Tech University released a statement confirming that the active shooter reports police received on Wednesday evening were part of a nationwide series of “swatting incidents” that have targeted universities and schools across the country this week, and “there is not believed to be a threat to campus.”

The first call to Lubbock Police came in at 5:15 p.m.

Calls have been reported across the country at Villanova, the University of New Hampshire, University of Arkansas, Iowa State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Colorado and Kansas State University.
