Two boaters are missing after a canoe capsized on Upper Kananaskis Lake in southern Alberta on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when the canoe, which had four occupants, overturned.
Cochrane RCMP and Kananaskis Emergency Services quickly responded to the scene. Bystanders, including individuals on boats and paddle boards, managed to rescue a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman shortly after the canoe flipped. However, two other individuals, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, remain unaccounted for.
As of late Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews continued their search efforts at the lake. This operation involves multiple agencies working together to locate the missing boaters.
Upper Kananaskis Lake is situated in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Calgary. The search for the missing individuals is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
