A wanted felon was arrested Wednesday after nearly a four-hour standoff in the Stratmoor area, according to a social media post by Colorado Springs police.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office issued a shelter-in-place in the 1300 block of Burnham Street after a suspect barricaded himself in a house with two children just after 9 a.m.

The suspect allegedly barricaded himself in a house with two "young" children, and for more than three hours the Sheriff's Office SWAT team and police worked to resolve the situation, according to a news release from police.

Burnham Street is in unincorporated El Paso County, south of city limits.
