SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Because of safety concerns with regards to flooding and past problems with campers, Pugh Park will no longer offer overnight camping after September 1.

The park is located near the Concho River, and after the July 4 floods, officials no longer want to take any chances.

"You can still use it," Commissioner Shawn Nanny said. "I hope this will provide a safer environment. I want people to be able to take their families down there and enjoy it, and have a good time and feel safe while they're doing it, have that part for generations to come. I think it looks beautiful, and we are constantly updating and making our county parks better, and will continue to do so.
