ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - A local hospital has treated nearly 1,000 people for breathing or lung problems, but on Wednesday they honored three recent graduates.

UnityPoint Health-Trinity celebrated its first-ever Pulmonary Rehab Awards, highlighting patients who’ve overcome major challenges while living with chronic lung conditions.

The ceremony recognized John Graham, Bonnie Jacobs, and Karen Kendell for their commitment to recovery through supervised exercise, education, and nutrition support offered by the hospital’s pulmonary rehab program.

Launched in 2017, the program has supported more than 1,000 patients, and officials said it continues to grow, tripling enrollment over the past year.
