BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Students from the State College of Science in Wahpeton are being trained on how to teach school cooks across North Dakota on how to make meals with less sodium and sugar.

The lessons are needed to comply with new regulatory changes in federal school lunch and breakfast programs.

The Department of Public Instruction partnered with the college for this program.

The culinary students are preparing for jobs in restaurant management and executive chef positions.

The students turned trainers will hold teaching sessions in October, November and the spring of 2026.
