The 2025-26 soccer season is off and running. With league play and domestic cup tournaments in full flow, next up to add to the calendar is the UEFA Champions League .

With the last batch of qualifiers wrapped up, 36 teams will take part in the draw for the league phase of club soccer's grandest competition.

Teams will play eight games in the league phase, with the top eight -- based on points accumulation -- automatically advancing to the round of 16. The next eight teams will be determined by the round of 32 two-game knockout phase in February 2026.

Last year saw Paris Saint-Germain bring the title to France for the first time ever, as the club routed Italy's Inter 5-0 in the final.
