WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) — As football season kicks off, Bayou Jamb continued its week-long celebration with a visit to Riser Middle School on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Student-athletes from participating schools visited all grade levels to speak with students about the importance of character, healthy relationships and life beyond the field.
This marks the third Character Counts School Tour, a community-focused initiative designed to connect high school athletes with younger students to reinforce values like teamwork, respect and personal growth.
Bayou Jamb CEO Patti Thurmon, says the event not only educates the youth, but the student-leaders as well.
The event allows those in leadership positions at their school to gain experience talking and mentoring youth in the community.
