At 23 games, Alabama will carry the second-longest winning streak in season-openers in SEC history into its Saturday contest at Florida State.

The Crimson Tide is four short of the conference’s best run of 1-0 records, enjoyed by Florida from 1990 through 2016.

But the SEC has another active season-opening streak that is approaching historic proportions in the other direction: LSU has lost its past five season-opening games. That’s the ninth time in SEC history that a program has been 0-1 for five consecutive seasons.

The Tigers open the 2025 campaign at Clemson on Saturday.

The SEC has three streaks of at least six 0-1 starts in its history:

Kentucky lost its season-opening game annually from 1952 through 1957, a span of six seasons.
