ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Wednesday, St. Augustine City leaders and the St. Johns County Commission discussed the future of the Nights of Lights in St. Augustine.
At stake is hundreds of thousands of dollars the City of St. Augustine says it needs in order to pay for improvements to the economic powerhouse event.
The county commission's workshop's sole topic was the city's request for financial assistance to implement an improvement plan.
The City of St. Augustine puts on the Nights of Lights. Last year, when the crowds were the biggest ever, there was gridlock on the roads, and a lack of restrooms.
Since January, the city has created a plan for parking, moving traffic and pedestrians through the downtown area, increased security, and more restrooms.
