SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Several people were injured in a five-car pileup in South Charleston Wednesday evening.

The incident was reported around 7:15 p.m. South Charleston Fire Department said it started out as a rear-end collision but then resulted in a chain reaction which caused the pileup.

Seven people were taken to the hospital, with one with serious injuries.

Eastbound lanes on Interstate 64 were closed but have since reopened.
