LACKAWANNA, N.Y. — With students set to return to the classroom next Thursday, leaders at Our Lady of Victory are working to reassure parents about security on campus.
Parish leaders told 2 On Your Side that armed security guards and advanced monitoring systems are in place to protect students and staff. The steps come as parents nationwide express heightened concerns following Wednesday's school shooting in Minneapolis .
The school’s director of safety and security said OLV is equipped with AI-enabled cameras that allow staff to monitor the campus from multiple locations. In addition, armed guards patrol both the church and the school during pickup and drop-off times.
