COLUMBIA, S.C. — A local police chief was involved in a car accident on Wednesday evening.

According to Ashley Hunter, a spokesperson for the town, South Congaree Police Chief Steve Jonas was involved in a two-car crash in Columbia.

The chief and occupants from the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

No word on anyone's condition.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation, and the chief is on administrative leave.
