COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Update: (7:16 am) The bypass has now been reopened and traffic is free to move through the area again

A "major accident" has caused a road closure in Copperas Cove.

The Copperas Cove Police Department stated the bypass from South FM 116 to Old Copperas Cove Road is closed in both directions at this time.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes while first responders work the scene.
