DUNCANVILLE, Texas — When New Orleans bounce music grabs you, it doesn’t let go.

New Orleans native Kevin Netters, known as “ Big Daddie the DJ ," knows this best, as he has been a DJ for more than 30 years.

“It’s the holy trilogy, right?" said Netters. "It’s music. It’s food, and it’s the New Orleans Saints. Those three things right there, kind of keep us together, keep everybody happy."

Music is part of what held many together even through grief. Netters moved to Dallas just two years before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

“We were optimistic because it seemed like the city was okay from what was being reported, and then after the levees broke -- that impact really hit us,” said Netters. “I knew things were going to change drastically.”
