LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - It’s hard to imagine no football in Oberlin. But a few weeks before the season, that nightmare was becoming a reality.

The Oberlin Tiger seniors were scared their dreams of playing football were going to be cut short. “It sucks, I cried myself to sleep thinking I wasn’t going to have a senior year.” Tiger offensive guard Mason Hazelton said.

Due to low roster numbers, the Oberlin Tigers were unsure if they would have enough players to field a team. Just a few weeks away from the beginning of the regular season, the Tigers were able to get their roster up to 20-23 players. They have enough to play, but head coach Curt Ware says practicing is still difficult. “We have to go on air sometimes or go hold dummies, It makes it tough, you gotta be a little creative and
