SANTA FE, N.M. —

Santa Fe County has closed County Road 51 indefinitely at the Galisteo Creek due to water flows. The roadway has since reopened as of Thursday morning, Aug. 28.

Below are previous details regarding the detour.

Southbound travel on the road could be accessed by drivers through the intersection of County Road 34 and U.S. 285, south of the Galisteo Creek low water crossing.

Officials said to be aware this detour may add up to 30 to 40 minutes of travel time. A significant amount of water could be seen overflowing both directions of the roadway.

County officials said residents will be notified when the low water crossing roadway has reopened. The road closure announcement was made Wednesday evening, Aug. 27.
